Service Description
Contemporary for Adults (17+) is a course designed to introduce beginners to the core techniques and expressive movements of contemporary dance. Blending the alignment of ballet with the freedom of modern dance, contemporary focuses on storytelling, fluidity, and improvisation. Throughout this course, students will explore foundational concepts such as floor work, the conscious use of gravity and weight, emotional expression, breath work, and the classic contraction and release technique. It is the perfect space to release tension, build core strength, and connect deeply with your movement. Prerequisite: No prior contemporary experience is required. A basic understanding of movement or ballet is helpful but not mandatory. Dress code: Comfortable workout clothes or dancewear that allows maximum freedom of movement. Socks or bare feet are recommended (no ballet shoes needed). Instructor: Andrea Prado, a former member of the UTRGV Repertory Dance Company, she has showcased her talent at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the American College Dance Association, and the Texas Dance Improvisational Festival.
